Privacy at Particle

Particle is a space for projects, chats, and connecting with collaborators. This notice describes the current web app.

What we store

We store your account identifier and display name, profile details you choose to add, project membership, tasks, messages, posts, uploaded files, reactions, applications, and notification preferences. ChatGPT sign-in is available. When email sign-in is enabled, Supabase verifies a one-time email code, and Particle stores your connected email and a private account link. Particle does not receive your ChatGPT password or conversation history. We use secure sign-in cookies and retain hashed session identifiers for up to 30 days. Code requests expire after 10 minutes; rate-limit records help prevent abuse.

If you enable nearby discovery, we store an approximate location rounded to roughly a 10 km area. Your profile can display your city and country. Exact coordinates are not displayed in public profiles. Device notifications store a push subscription for each device you enable.

Who can see your content

Individual chats are available only to their two participants. Reported messages may be reviewed by Particle’s moderation team. Project chats and crew posts are available to project members. Feed posts are available to friends and, when attached to a project, its members. Recruitment listings and profiles you publish in Discover are public. Work highlights and their attachments become public with your published profile. Avoid sharing information you do not want those audiences to see.

Blocks stop new direct connections and hide shared chat messages between the accounts. They do not remove either person from an existing project, or make public profiles private to signed-out visitors.

Services and payments

The web app uses hosted database and object storage for account information and uploads. Device alerts use your browser’s push service. When web payments are enabled, Stripe handles payment details, subscriptions, and receipts. Particle stores billing identifiers and subscription status; card and bank details are handled by Stripe, not collected in Particle.

Your controls

You can edit or unpublish your profile, remove location details, mute projects, disable notifications, delete your posts and uploads, and block or report accounts. Account settings includes a data download and permanent account deletion. Download attachments separately from Storage if you want to keep their contents.

Before deleting your account, transfer or delete projects you own. Deletion cancels an existing Particle web subscription, disables the account, and removes your profile, authored messages, posts, and uploads. Shared tasks and other people’s work remain. Storage deletion retries if the provider is temporarily unavailable. A minimal deletion record prevents accidental account recreation. Billing, abuse-report evidence, and support records may be retained for handling payments, disputes, and safety requests. Provider backup copies follow their retention processes.
